Despite another mixed week of weather we have managed to take advantage of a dry day on Tuesday to install the concrete slab to Block 1. The floor construction starts with the pre-cast concrete beam & block floor and is then covered with a gas resistant membrane and thick insulation. A concrete screed is then installed using a pump to the area of the floor.

The week started with freezing temperatures and snow flurries here at Sampson Grange. Owing to the nature of mortar we are unable to lay bricks or blocks in near freezing temperatures and this unfortunately slows down progress in these weather conditions. However, over the last couple of days the daytime temperatures have increased and we have continued some of the substructure works on Block 2 and preparations are ongoing for the floor screed on Block 1. The photographs show blockwork installed on Block 1 and the insulation ready to be laid under the floor screed to Block 1. The insulation is 150mm thick and helps toward the overall thermal insulation of the Blocks.
